Educational Purpose Only
MiddleSchoolGPA.com is an independent educational resource designed to help middle school students (grades 6–8), parents, and educators understand GPA calculations and academic performance. The information, tools, and content on this site are provided for educational and informational purposes only and should not be treated as authoritative academic records.
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any school, school district, state department of education, or other official academic institution. We do not represent the National Center for Education Statistics, the U.S. Department of Education, or any other government body. Our content reflects widely accepted U.S. grading conventions but does not constitute official educational policy.
GPA Calculations Are Estimates
The GPA calculations produced by our tools are estimates based on the standard 4.0 grading scale used by most U.S. middle schools. These estimates assume:
- Standard percentage-to-letter-grade conversion ranges (A = 93–100%, A- = 90–92%, B+ = 87–89%, etc.)
- Equal class weighting with no credit hours (each class counts the same)
- Standard honors weighting of +0.5 when the weighted option is selected
- The grading conventions most commonly used in U.S. public middle schools
Your official GPA is determined solely by your school's grading system, which may differ from our assumptions. Common reasons calculator results may differ from your official GPA:
- Your school uses different percentage cutoffs (e.g., A = 90–100% instead of 93–100%)
- Your school assigns credit hours to courses, changing how each class is weighted
- Your school weights honors or advanced courses differently (e.g., +0.5 vs +1.0 vs no bonus)
- Your school applies different rounding rules to the final GPA
- Your school includes or excludes certain courses (Pass/Fail, non-graded electives) from GPA calculations
- Your school uses a non-standard scale (5.0 scale, 100-point scale, or standards-based grading)
Always verify your GPA with your school's official student portal or guidance counselor before using it for any formal purpose — including honors program applications, magnet school applications, or scholarship eligibility.
Not a Substitute for Official School Records
Results from MiddleSchoolGPA.com are not official academic records. They should not be submitted, cited, or presented as official GPA documentation for any purpose. Your school's registrar office or student information system is the only authoritative source for your official GPA. If you need an official GPA for an application, transcript, or other formal purpose, contact your school's guidance counselor or registrar directly.
GPA Calculations Assume Standard U.S. Grading
Our calculations are based on the standard U.S. grading system and assume you are attending a typical U.S. public or private middle school. If you are attending a school that uses a different grading framework — including international grading systems, standards-based grading (1–4 scale), competency-based grading, or narrative assessments — our calculator may not produce meaningful results. We note this limitation explicitly because many students in the United States attend schools with non-traditional grading, and results in those cases should be interpreted with care or not at all.
No Professional or Legal Advice
Nothing on MiddleSchoolGPA.com constitutes academic, educational, legal, or professional advice. Our guides and articles are informational in nature. Academic decisions — including course selection, honors enrollment, tutoring interventions, and high school planning — should be made in consultation with your school's teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators, not based solely on our calculator results or educational content.

While we work diligently to ensure our content is accurate and current, we make no guarantee that all information reflects the latest school, district, or state grading policies. Grading policies can and do change. If you find an inaccuracy, please report it to [email protected] so we can review and correct it promptly.
